11 May
- Arrived in New Orleans
- Explored The French
Quarter
- Port Orleans-A bar where we enjoyed our first Hurricanes. (The Drink, not the weather.)
- Wandered Down Bourbon Street
- Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral
- Walked along the Mississippi River
to the Aquarium
.(This is a really nice Aquarium!)
- Dinner at Michaul's-They Have Cajun food, music and dancing. It was a lot of fun.
- Explored more of the French Quarter.
12 May
- Explored the Garden District
- Meandered in the antique shops on
Magazine Street.
- Lunch at Crescent City Brew House
- Pat O'Brien's "We went to Pat O'Brien's with the intention of having a
Hurricane then going to Preservation Hall, but we got a nice table in the
court yard and proceeded to get plastered."
- Oz-Ginny wanted to go dancing, this is were we ended up...it's a gay bar, but we were welcomed and had a great time. Stan was excited because for once his cover charge was less than ours.
13 May
- Breakfast at Café
DuMonde-They have yummy beignets.
- Swamp Tour-"The bayou was beautiful. We saw alligators, a few egrets, 2
turtles, a raccoon and thankfully no snakes."
- Dinner at The Palm
Court Jazz Café-"That place was great, they had
live jazz and good food."
- Drinks at The Top Of the Mart-"...we continued on to
the World Trade Center of New Orleans for a relaxing
ride at the Top Of The Mart. It's a giant cocktail lounge that rotates.
It was cheesy but fun."
14 May
- The
Zoo-"It's a very nice zoo, but most of the animals
were hanging out sleeping in the back of their cages. It was around
90° and humid.(Just the way I like it.) We even got beer.
- Voo Doo Museum-"It was cool and interesting. There was a woman inside who
practiced Voo Doo. She described it as a way of life which sounded similar
to Taoism. We made an offering to Exu (a
Snickers bar) for good luck.
- Preservation Hall
- Flamingo
Casino "The
casino boat had to leave the dock. Legally it has to be out on the river a
certain amount of time. It was a nice boat ride on the Mississippi...we
stayed out on the deck most of the time."
